More than 500 people were killed in Iraq in this year due to violence. UN announced that the number of people killed increased to 712 in April in this year, which is the second biggest number compared to number of people killed in July 2008. The existing violence in Iraq is lower than 2006-2008 term, when the armed resistance was launched against USA and its allies. The most bloody assaults launched since January 2013 are as follows: 16 January: Bomb attack, simultaneously organized to the party offices of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and peshmarga stations, led to death of 33 people. 17 January: 37 people were killed in a hometown of Baghdad, where the shiites intensively live, due to bomb attacks with vehicles. 14 March: 30 people were killed due to an attack on the Justice Ministry. 19 March: The organisation of "Islamic Republic of Iraq", tied to Al Qaeda, organized a series of attacks, and 65 people were killed on the 10th anniversary of America's occupation. 15 April: 36 people were killed in the period of local elections. 23 April: Security forces organized an operation to protest tents in Havice region of northern Iraq, and 56 were killed. 25 April: 40 people were killed due to an armed conflict in Mosul. 29 April: 36 people were killed in some regions of Baghdad due to bomb attacks, where the shiites intensively live. 17 May: 76 people were killed in the sunni regions of Baghdad due to bomb attacks after the Friday prayers. 15 May: 33 people were killed in the main shiite region of Baghdad due to a bomb attack at a bus station. 20 May: The number of people killed exceeded 100 in an hour because of simultaneous bomb attacks at crowded markets of shiite and sunni regions of Baghdad.
