8 people killed, 21 others wounded in Egypt clashes

 Eight people were killed and 21 others injured on Tuesday in several governorates in Egypt on the first day of the two-day referendum for a new draft constitution, the Health Ministry said in a release.Three people have passed away while five others were killed in clashes between anti-constitution protesters and policemen, the ministry said, adding that the fatalities were mostly reported from Cairo and Giza governorates.Another 21 people were wounded in clashes that took place in Alexandria, Beni Suef, Menufia, Qena, Menia, Daqahlia, Gharbia, and Beheira governorates, it said, noting that they were taken to nearby hospitals. Egyptians went to polling centers early today to vote in a referendum on the country's new constitution amid protests by ousted president Mohammad Morsi's supporters.
