99-percenters stage demo outside Romney fundraiser

Anti-Wall Street protesters have staged a peaceful demonstration outside a fundraising office for US Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. On Wednesday, the 99-percenters made their way to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, where the fundraising event was being held. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the one-percenters and carried signs that said Romney is the one percent. A group of people dressed in black robes carried a mock coffin and urn labeled with the text “Job Cremation”. Organizers of the protest march mocked Romney's business and the Wall Street supporters. Romney has cited his years at financial services company Bain Capital as a proof of that he is a good economic manager. However, the protesters slammed him for this. The Occupy movement owes its inspiration to the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protests, which began when a group of demonstrators gathered in New York's financial district on September 17, 2011 to protest the excessive influence of big corporations on official US policies and the high-level corruption in the country. Police officers in the US have made thousands of arrests as part of the crackdown on the Occupy movement since its emergence.
