Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on the Arab League to convene an emergency meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip, ravaged by an eight-day Israeli aggression, Palestinian Foreign Minister Ryad al-Maliki said in Rome. "Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas) also intends to raise the issue of Israeli authorities’ behavior in the occupied territories where they displace Palestinians from their homes," al-Maliki told a joint news conference with his Italian counterpart, Giulio Terzi, Friday in Rome. The Palestinian Foreign minister also condemned the Israeli army as it carried out attacks on the Gaza Strip Friday, killing one Palestinian and wounding a dozen others. The attack "means a violation of the cease-fire" in force in Gaza since Wednesday evening, the Palestinian minister said. Terzi hoped that the incident would not end the truce in Gaza, after eight days of bloody attacks.
