A round of talks commenced at the headquarters of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) here on Monday between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi. The talks also attended by a number of senior officials of the SCAF featured the latest developments in Palestine and efforts exerted on part of the Palestinian and Egyptian leaderships to alleviate suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza strip under the brutal Israeli siege. The two sides also discussed endeavors underway to end the inter-Palestinian division, the Middle East peace process and relations between the two sides and how best to bolster them. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who arrived in Cairo earlier Sunday on a three-day state visit to Egypt, conferred here on Sunday with with Chief of Egypt's intelligence Maj. Gen. Murad Muwafi on the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, and Palestinian reconciliation. Abbas laid on Monday the foundation stone for the new premises of the Palestinian Embassy in Egypt.
