Abbas: PA committed to peace and 2-state solution

President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday said that the Palestinian Authority is committed to peace and two-state solution, following the unveiling of the corner stone of the Embassy of the state of Palestine in Islamabad. Abbas reaffirmed PA’s commitment to peace and to continue working hard to achieve the two-state solution, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy including the Arab peace initiative. He said that the Israeli government must choose between building illegal settlements and between achieving a just and comprehensive peace, that guarantees security and stability to all parties in the region, on the basis of the resolutions of international legitimacy. He reiterated the Palestinian Authority’s priority to continue working hard and relentlessly to achieve the Palestinians’ right to freedom and independence and ending the accumulated suffering of the refugees through 65 years of homelessness. Abbas also reiterated PA’s commitment to ending the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by Israel and to reinforce the steadfastness of Palestinians in Jerusalem, in resisting all applied Israeli measures intended to change the character of Jerusalem and to alter its composition not only as eternal capital of the state of Palestine, but as the living existence of coexistence among all religions. He thanked Pakistan for its support in the international arena, in particular during the voting in General Assembly to upgrade the status of the State of Palestine to an observer state status and agreeing to build the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Islamabad.
