President Mahmoud Abbas will meet Egyptian leader Muhammad Tantawi on Monday, the Palestinian ambassador in Cairo said on Saturday. The president will discuss his party's stalled reconciliation deal with Hamas, brokered by Egypt in May 2011, Amb. Barakat Al-Farra said. Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi is head of the military council ruling Egypt since Mubarak was toppled. The leaders will also discuss efforts to improve living conditions in Gaza, which borders Egypt, under Israeli blockade, as well as the peace process, Al-Farra added. Abbas will lay the foundation stone of the new headquarters of the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, he said. Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, Director General of the Palestinian National Fund Ramzi Khouri and diplomatic advisor to the president Majdi Al-Khalidi will also join the talks.
