Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Monday visited the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) where he met with its President Abdul Ilah Al Khatib in the presence of a number of ministers. Ensour congratulated the IEC on its success in overseeing and managing the recent parliamentary elections and on its major efforts to conduct free and transparent elections The premier said the government was keen not to interfere in the elections process and provide full support to the IEC to enable it to carry out its duties in the best manner. Al Khatib highlighted the need to build on what has been accomplished, adding that the parliamentary polls provided an opportunity to improve legislation related to the elections law.
