Abu Dhabi crown prince meets Ban on humanitarian issues

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan held talks with visiting UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Monday on international and humanitarian issues.
Sheikh Mohammad and Ban also discussed agenda of the third Government Summit 2015, currently held in Dubai, and the development of governments and good governance, an official statement cited by the official WAM news agency said.
The two men also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between UAE and UN in humanitarian and developmental areas, and aid given to nations and people affected by natural disasters and conflicts.
They reviewed UN initiatives and projects to assist needy people and refugees, and means to overcome financial and logistical challenges facing such efforts, said the statement.
Sheikh Mohammad, also deputy Supreme Commander of UAE armed forces, spoke about the UAE's approach to supporting UN humanitarian works.
"The UAE makes its own efforts and undertakes initiatives and programs to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by wars and disasters," he said.
Ban praised the UAE's efforts in supporting UN organisations and the aid it provided to the needy people in different parts of the world.
He also lauded the Government Summit and its goals of tackling best government practices to provide best services and happiness to the people.
