A NATO soldier in southern Afghanistan was shot and killed in an insider attack by a man clad in Afghan National Security Force uniform, authorities said. In a brief news release about the attack Tuesday, NATO's International Security Assistance Force said a "service member died when an individual wearing an Afghan National Security Force uniform fired his weapon at ISAF individuals in southern Afghanistan today." The news release said the ANSF and ISAF forces were investigating the incident but did not say where in southern Afghanistan the shooting occurred or give any other details. The New York Times, quoting officials, said it occurred at Kandahar Air Field. The report said one coalition force soldier died and at least four others were wounded when the attacker on a tower fired at a passing convoy of coalition vehicles Tuesday morning. The attacker was later described as a five-year veteran soldier, according to a report of the United Press International (UPI).
