Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the top US Military Commander Martin Dempsey discussed a dual security agreement on Monday. According to a statement released from the Afghanistan Presidency, President Hamid Karzai and US Chief of General Staff Martin Dempsey discussed the dual security topics and stated that the Kabul government was ready to sign a security pact with the US. "President Karzai once again emphasised that the Afghan people have suffered from long years of war in their country, and want peace to be restored. President Karzai said with that hope, Afghans are ready to sign a security pact with the US, on condition that it leads to peace and stability in the country, the strengthening of Afghan forces, and a united and sovereign Afghanistan," said the statement. Karzai suspended security negotiations with the US due to Taliban office in Doha going beyond their aim. The meeting between Karzai and Dempsey came out as Afghanistan was ready to let American troops stay in Afghanistan beyond 2014 if the security pact that they agreed was fulfilled.
