Agriculture Minister Abdel Menem el Banna met Wednesday with delegations of the World Bank (WB) and French Development Agency (AFD) to discuss progress achieved in a project to upgrade field irrigation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Banna said the delegations will visit Egypt again in June to get firsthand information about mechanisms of action in the project which is being implemented in the governorates of Beheira and Kafr el Sheikh.
The project is being implemented over an area of 180,000 feddans, of which 50 percent have already been upgraded, the minister said.
He made it clear that the remaining area should be upgraded during 2017.
Banna praised efforts exerted by the WB and AFD to support agricultural development in Egypt through joint projects. Source: MENA
