Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Thursday met with Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Djibrill Bassole, who is also the representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s secretary general.After the meeting, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti reiterated the deep relations between the two countries and appreciated Bassole’s role as a U.N.-African Union joint mediator in the efforts to achieve peace and stability in Darfur, revealing that Sudan is to open an embassy in Ouagadougou.For his part, Bassole hailed bilateral relations, noting that his meeting with al-Bashir had discussed the OIC’s potential role in supporting peace and stability in Mali and the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD).He pointed to the efforts of Burkinabe President Blaise Compaore as a mediator from the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) in order to reach a settlement in Mali through a policy of dialogue that, he said, his country adopts
