Ankara - Anadolu

President of the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib has said, "no other countries attacked their own people by using Scud missiles other than Syria". Moaz al-Khatib and Chairman of the Syrian National Council George Sabra attended " Syria on the third year of the revolution" titled panel discussion organized by Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) in Turkey's capital Ankara on Thursday. Speaking at the panel, al-Khatib strongly stressed, the Syrian revolution was peaceful however due to ravage, massacre, holocaust of the Syrian regime, the people ofSyria and the revolution was pulled into the war and stated, last month, 86 bakeries were shot via aerial bombing when people were waiting in the queues to get bread. "Such thing was not seen, nowhere around the world", he added. "There are no countries who attacked their own people by using Scud missiles. There are brutal tortures taking place in Syrian prisons which have never been seen like in history," noted al-Khatib. Syria is not a test chamber Al-Khatib said, chemical weapons were being used and highlighted, "Many great countries said they would not do such a thing. Russia and the US should not interfere in Syria's internal affairs. As we know, they were unsuccessfull in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Syrian people are not a test chamber. We can reach onto our own resolution. Do not poke your nose into these. Syrian people go through enough pains." Al-Khatib stated, there was not a future for Assad and his regime in Syria and added, the Syrian people need help and all that is completely humanitarian. President of the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, al-Khatib also touched on the sects and said, Alewis were in compliance with others and stressed, the regime was ruining this harmony. He noted, "Throughout his life, Assad had never been to an Alewi village. They live in fear because they are scared of revolutionaries taking a revenge. However, revolutionaries do not think about taking a revenge. Alewis do not have a problem actually. Regime kind of makes this up. We see Alewis and Nusayri's as part of our country. We all have common responsibilities and obligations." Al-Khatib said Assad was misguiding all world leaders and added, he was not intimate to anybody. He said, Turkey was doing its utmost for a peaceful resolution in Syria and mentioned, "The meeting between Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Assad went for 6 hours and that Assad lied throughout the meeting." After his speech, al-Khatib replied the questions of attendees. Upon a question about if they were finding Turkey's contributions about Syria enough or not, al-Khatib said, "Turkish government gave all the support they can, politically too. From the military side of it, Turkey did not get into any issues. Turkish government stood by Syrian people for them to get their freedom and they did not hide this." Replying another question about interim government being rejected by PYD --a Kurdish armed group in Syria which had links with terrorist organization PKK--, Al-Khatib said, "We say, "We will get away from who gets closer to the regime and whoever gets closer to revolution, we will go and approach them." I came together with chairman of PYD in Cairo and he clearly said that they support the Syrian revolution. This made me happy in anyways." George Sabra, in his part, said that the Syrian regime was not in a position to generate respect from its own people. "And, the Syrian people are not in a position to make the changes that they desire in Syria," Sabra also said.
