Al-Muosherji: Democracy basis for constitutional reforms

Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Shareeda Al-Muosherji on Sunday emphasized necessity of boosting democracy as a basis for pressing ahead with constitutional reforms. Kuwaiti Constitution is "rich in provisions that address all of the society requirements," said the minister, in a statement at opening of the "first scientific-legal conference," organized by Kuwait International Law School, and patronized by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. These constitutional articles stipulate cooperation and solidarity among Kuwaiti citizens, affirm separation of state departments' jurisdictions, citizens' rights and freedoms, said the minister. Minster Al-Muosherji called for cooperation among regional states to face "contemporary legal and economic changes," also noting need to educate public about challenges facing law men and officials in sectors such as legislation, economy and development. The faculty dean, Dr. Mohammad Al-Maqate', said the conference addresses constitutional reforms in Arab countries, judicial issues and legal topics related "financial and economic changes in the Arab world." Kuwait International Law School (KILAW) opened in January 2011 as the first and the only private university specializing in law in Kuwait and the Middle East.
