Public Security Chief Major-General Tariq Al Hassan has said that Al Wefaq National Islamic Society had submitted a request to the Directorate of the Capital Governorate Police to hold a rally from Bab Al Bahrain to Ras Ruman in Manama on Thursday morning on July 2012. He said that after reviewing the security plans and the law on public assemblies, it was decided not to grant permission for the requested rally, explaining that holding it in such a vital location, including vital economic establishments, at such timing will hinder the traffic, undermine security and harm public interests. Al-Hassan stressed that the rally was illegal, and therefore legal action would be taken against violators .
