
A Kazakh Foreign Ministry source announced the arrival of all delegations due to take part in the fourth round of the International Meeting on Syria hosted by Astana.
The delegations who arrived included UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs Stuart Jones, head of the Syrian opposition team Mohammed Alloush and head of the Syrian government team Bashar Ja’afari, the source said.
A source close to the Astana talks told Sky News channel that the talks will kick off Wednesday afternoon.
The Astana talks have played an important role in strengthening the ceasefire regime in Syria. The purpose of the upcoming meeting is to consolidate the progress achieved during the previous three rounds of talks.
