
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, the Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC) discussed on Tuesday bilateral relations and friendship with the British delegation of the Houses of Commons and Lords.
The meeting was also attended by Afra Al Basti, member of the FNC and Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the FNC.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening the parliamentary co-operation and exchanging visits. They reviewed a number of issues of mutual interest.
Dr. Al Qubaisi invited the speakers of Houses of Commons and Lords to visit the UAE to further strengthen parliamentary co-operation between the two friendly countries. She stressed the depth of the friendship and co-operation between the UAE and the UK, thanks to the keenness of the leaders of the two countries to enhance the relations in all fields, especially in political, economic, cultural and tourist areas.
The delegation members congratulated the FNC speaker on her election as the first woman FNC speaker in the Arab world and the Middle East. They commended the UAE leadership’s vision regarding the woman empowerment in all fields, especially in the areas of parliament and politics.
She referred to the role of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, in boosting the Emirati woman’s status in all fields.
Dr. Al Qubaisi stressed the importance of counter-terrorism, and spreading the culture of tolerance and moderation.
