Ambassador to UK: Egypt safe as any other major country

Egyptian Ambassador to Britain Nasser Kamel said on Saturday that Egypt is as safe as any other major country.

In statements to Sky News, he hailed security forces reaction to the recent two attacks in Giza and the Red Sea in which the two attacks were foiled and the perpetrators were arrested.

He also asserted the importance of cooperation of the international community to face terrorist threats.

He added that what happened in Giza and Hurghada happened in different places around the world including Paris and Philadelphia.

He pointed out at Daesh's recruitment of individuals to attack several countries around the world.

He stressed that Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada are the most secure cities around the world, not only in Egypt. He added that British authorities believe that these cities are safe and that is why they are encouraging British citizens to travel to Hurghada.

Meanwhile, Kamel told the BBC that Egypt was no less safe than other countries, adding there was no reason to stop visiting.

"We are facing the exact same threat in Paris, in London, all over the world," he said.
