Another blackbox of crashed Indonesian plane recovered

Rescuers recovered the flight data recorder (FDR) of a crashed passenger plane, which killed all 54 people aboard in Indonesia's easternmost province of Papua, the Transport Ministry said on Thursday.

The device was found at 12:58 p.m. local time (0358 GMT) by rescuers from the search and rescue office and members of the national transport safety committee or KNKT, Julius Arivada Barata, spokesman of the Transport Ministry, told Xinhua by phone.

He said the FDR has been transported to Jayapura, capital of Papua province, and will be flown to the KNKT office in Jakarta on Friday for analysis.

The device was found two days after rescuers retrieved the cockpit voice recorder, one of the two blackboxes of the plane, at the crash site.

The ATR-42 turboprop plane, operated by Trignana Air, hit Mount Tangok in Bintang district of Papua when it was flying from Jayapura to Oksibil, 280 km south of the provincial capital.

All bodies of 49 passengers and five crews on board the aircraft have been recovered and transferred to a hospital in Jayapura for identification.
