Arab League secretary general Nabil Al-Araby met here Tuesday with a delegation from the Syrian opposition National Coordination Authority and exchanged views over the situation on the ground in troubled Syria. Bassam Al-Malek, member of the Authority's executive office, said they have talked about the opposition's "vision to what is happening on the ground in Syria of killing and destruction of the Syrian people, and how to end this difficult crisis." Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Al-Malek said they have also express desire to unite all opposition groups in and outside Syria. "The Syrian regime makes the people resist because it is killing them every day. We in Syria are peaceful but were forced to carry weapons to resist the regime and defend ourselves ...," he added. UN estimates that some 40,000 people were killed during the ongoing conflict in Syria, while more than 1.5 million are either displaced internally or refugees in neighboring countries
