The Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi conferred here on Thursday with U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson. A diplomatic source said that talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments in the Arab world and the Middle East in general . The source added in a statement carried by the Egyptian official Middle East News Agency (MENA) that the meeting gains great significance amid the the current developments raging in the region, particularly as it, the meeting, precedes Al-Arabi’s visit to Damascus slated for next Saturday The meeting also takes place prior to the Arab Peace Initiative committee’s meeting scheduled in Cairo next Monday plus the meetings of the 136th session of the Arab League council due to open at the Arab ministers’level also in the Egyptian capital next Tuesday, said the diplomatic source. It further said that the meeting is also vital in view of the arab move to drump up international support to recognize the State of Palestine along the 4th of June , 1967 and its full membership bid to the UN.
