Arab League chief, Russian FM discuss recent developments in Palestine

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York on the latest developments in Palestine, according to a statement released by the AL general secretariat on Monday.

The bilateral talks, held on the sidelines of the 70th UNGA session, come in the light of the recent Israeli provocative practices represented in expanding in the establishment of settlements and assaults on Islamic and Christian holy places in Al Quds, especially Al Aqsa Mosque.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the current arrangements for holding the expanded ministerial meeting of the International Quartet on Wednesday at the United Nations' headquarters in New York, the statement added.

Also, the two officials touched on the recent developments in Syria as Lavrov briefed Araby on Russian' stance on the ongoing war against Daesh terrorist group and his country's support for Syrian and Iraqi governments to uproot terror and maintain security and stability in the region, according to the statement.
