Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi was preparing on Wednesday to organise an emergency Arab foreign ministerial meeting to respond to Israel air strikes on Gaza, a league official said, according to AFP. Arabi had contacted Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, whose country temporarily heads the League, to prepare to convene the meeting following a request from Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, the official said. Meanwhile, Morsi decided on Wednesday to recall the ambassador to Israel after a series of air strikes in Gaza killed a top Hamas militant and six other people, his spokesman said. Morsi decided to “recall Egypt’s ambassador to Israel,” spokesman Yassir Ali said in a statement broadcast on state television. He also ordered the foreign ministry to summon Israel’s ambassador in Cairo.
