Doha - Anadolu

Arab League's 24th Ordinary Summit began in Qatar's capital of Doha on Tuesday. 22 countries attend the Doha Summit and 15 of them are represented at the level of head of state. Turkey and the European Union (EU) join the Summit as observers. Syrian crisis is expected to be on top of the agenda of the two-day Summit Syria's seat at the Summit was given to the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces. Syria's membership at the Arab League was suspended in November 2011 due to violent clashes in the country. Al-Khatib sits at Syria's seat President of the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib sat at Syria's seat on Tuesday at the Summit. Syrian opposition leaders, including the Prime Minister of Syrian Interim Government Ghassan Hitto, sat behind al-Khatib. As part of the Summit, the participants will discuss the possibility of the Syrian National Coalition opening embassies in Arab countries and providing arms to the Free Syrian Army (FSA). Representing Turkey at the Summit, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will deliver a speech. "Iraq offers establishment of "Arab Security Council" Iraq offered the establishment of the "Arab Security Council" at the Arab League's 24th Ordinary Summit. Iraqi Vice Presidents Hudeira al Huzai stated that they offer the establishment of the "Arab Security Council" for resolving issues in Arab countries.    Saying that Arab countries stay on a fragile and soft ground, Huzai noted "Decades had proven the weakness of the international solutions, we could solve our problems".   He said such an establishment would be an appropriate answer to the apathy of the international community to the crisis in Arab countries.    "No stability possible in region unless a Palestinian state with capital Jerusalem gets established" Secretary General of the Arab League, Nabil el-Araby on Tuesday said that "no stability was possible in the region unless a Palestinian state with capital Jerusalem got established." Nabil el-Araby underlined that the Arab League tried to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis. Expressing his pleasure over seeing the President of the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Moaz al-Khatib as the official representative of the Syrian people at the Doha Summit, el-Araby indicated that it was the Assad regime as the main responsible party for the crisis in Syria. "Unable to take a decision to end the bloodshed in Syria, the UN Security Council also has a share in the Syrian crisis," el-Araby noted. Reiterating that he recognized the Syrian National Coalition as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people, el-Araby made a call on the Arab League to preserve the unity of the Syrian people and to extend support to the Syrian refugees. El-Araby underlined that he supported the establishment of a fund to support the Palestinian economy and Jerusalem. All cry after listening to president of Syrian National Coalition at the Summit Almost everyone at the 24th Arab League Summit held in Doha cried after listening to a speech delivered by the President of Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, Moaz al-Khatib. Al-Khatib's speech touched on the tyranny of the Assad regime and the story of one of his students. Al-Khatib made a call on everyone to visit a famous hotel in Damascus which is used as a "center of torture" by the Syrian intelligence and talked on the story of one of his students who was tortured there. "My student was taken to the hotel after getting arrested. My student faced torture for seven days. He could not tolerate the torture and he went mad afterwards. He was later executed in front of other prisoners," al-Khatib said. Touching on a meeting held by the Nusayri opposition in Cairo last Sunday, al-Khatib underlined that the Nusayri people showed that the war in Syria was not one based on sects.
