
The Arab League has welcome the decision of US President Barack Obama lifting economic sanctions on Sudan.
In a statement issued today, Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Ahmed Aboul Ghait said that the US move represents an important response to a legitimate Sudanese and Arab demand. The Arab League has been demanding this in all its resolution, he said adding that it is a key step to support this great Arab country in restoring its economic wellness which was severely affected by the US sanctions.
Aboul Ghait expressed the Arab League's aspiration for the continuation of cooperation and dialogue between Sudan and the US towards full normalization of relations between the two countries in order to achieve the interests of the two peoples, and help in addressing international and regional issues of common concern.
