Arab League chief Nabil Arabi said the situation in Syria now is very serious, warning of growing violence and escalating political and ethnic conflict. Arabi, in an interview with Al-Anbaa newspaper, warned that continued conflict and the failure to reach any solution threatens of a regional and international catastrophe that would mercilessly get to everyone. He urged a serious and responsible Arab and international stance to avoid more killing and destruction in Syria and to preserve regional peace and security. Arabi said he maintains contacts with UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, calling on the Syrian regime, opposition political and military powers in Syria and Arab and international partners to back his mission and honestly work with him for reaching a solution that would spare Syria further losses.
