Argentina's President Cristina Kirchner will visit the United States later this month to inaugurate a forum for Argentine studies at Georgetown University, according to an official. Kirchner's presence at the September 26 event "highlights the importance Argentina gives to the construction of new agreements with the international community in general, and in this particular case, with the United States," Argentina's Ambassador to the US Jorge Arguello said in a statement, released on Saturday. The new program, part of Georgetown's Center for Latin American Studies, will feature US experts on Argentina, as well as visits from Argentine government officials, business leaders, politicians and civil society representatives. Georgetown University, a prestigious institution of higher learning, counts among its faculty former secretaries of state, heads of government, ambassadors to the United Nations, World Bank economists and White House advisers.
