Argentina Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández on Friday praised the Argentine tradition of “facilitating the entry of foreign citizens in tragic situations like war” and highlighted a government’s plan launched a year ago, which “makes it easier the entry of Syrian citizens,” Buenos Aires Herald reported.
In his daily press briefing, the head of ministers was asked about the humanitarian situation of refugees in Europe and he said: “The Argentine Republic has an enormous prestige in recognizing situations of these characteristics, in the vision of opening its frontiers when humanitarian situations require it.”
“It’s terrible what happened with the case of the Turkish boy, and in many other cases in which people die escaping from war and death,” he stated.
Labour Minister Carlos Tomada also referred to the migrante crisis in Europe and the Middle East saying that "if there are Syrian people with relatives in Argentina, they will have an easier access. We have a very agile system for Syrians to come to this country.”
