Transport and Public Works Minister Ghazi Aridi toured storm drains in Shoueifat and Dbayyeh Wednesday where the ministry will start works in preparation for winter early August. He said a road would be closed in Shoueifat during public works to install pipes to channel rainwater that gathers in storm drains to a nearby river. The drains are usually flooded with rainwater during winter. “This [the works] will create a problem for people, but I am sure that they will tolerate this and we will announce in media outlets the date of blocking the road,” Aridi said. “We are responsible for the delay [in works], unfortunately. There was mismanagement on one side and delay in deciding on the [2012 draft] budget and allocations on the other,’ Aridi said. From DailyStar
