A dispute in the Tripoli district of Al-Mina Tuesday evening degenerated into an armed fight that left four men wounded, sources told The Daily Star. Supporters of Sheikh Hashem Minqara, an ally of Hezbollah, clashed with residents of the Mina region of Al-Ziraa as well as supporters of Salafist groups in Tripoli, the sources said. One source said that the residents and Salafists protested the establishment of of a security parameter in the Al-Ziraa area of Al-Mina. The names and identities of the four wounded people could not be immediately identified. The Army intervened to end the clash after residents and Salafists entrapped Minkara’s supporters in the Issa Ibnu Maryam Mosque in the area. Tripoli witnessed deadly battles earlier this year between supporters of Syrian president Bashar Assad in the mainly Alawite neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen and those in Bab al-Tabbaneh, the majority of whom support the uprising against the regime.
