
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, on the sidelines of the International Social and Political Global Forum against the Crime of Genocide, met Thorbjorn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
Armenia’s leader thanked Jagland for receiving an invitation to participate in the forum.
President Sargsyan highly appreciated Jagland’s contribution to the forum, which confirms the CE’s role in the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
The two sides discussed the Armenian Genocide centennial and its symbol and events, including the International Social and Political Global Forum against the Crime of Genocide.
President Sargsyan also met with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohamed Gehad Laham who expressed Syria's recognition of the Armenian genocide.
