
At least 16 people including the provincial appeal attorney chief Abdul Qayoum Khan were injured in an explosion that took place in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. The explosion took place in the first district of Jalalabad city, after an improvised explosive device planted by militants was detonated using a remote control, according to Afghan (Khaama Press). Provincial security chief Masoom Hashimi confirming the report said at least 16 people including the provincial appeal attorney chief, his three bodyguards and 12 civilians were injured. Hashimi further added that the health condition of Abdul Qayoum Khan is satisfactory, however the other individuals who were injured are in a critical condition. This comes as a group of militants including a suicide bomber attacked the Indian consulate in eastern Jalalabad city, leaving as many as 11 dead and 23 others injured. No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
