At least one shell lands near Syria-Lebanon border

At least one shell landed Saturday near a Syrian-Lebanon border crossing which has been closed for over a month due to heavy clashes in Syria, a Lebanese security source told The Daily Star. The shells, which fell next to the east Lebanese border crossing of Joussieh in Al-Qaa, fell around 1 p.m. without causing any material damage, the source said. The Joussieh crossing has been closed as a measure to protect people crossing the entry and exit point given the heavy fighting between rebels and forces loyal to President Bashar Assad. In July, armed opposition groups attacked in Syrian army checkpoints in the Syrian village of Joussieh, near that border crossing which left several dead and wounded. The attack and several minor incidents have forced many to flee to area. The Daily Star
