Austrian air show opens

The two-day Austrian "Airpower 2013" was opened Friday at the military airfield of Zeltweg in the central part of Austria. Unlike the large air show of other European countries, the Austrian "Airpower" is held partly for the purpose of being a popular festival to popularize the scientific and technical knowledge of aviation, as well as the Knowledge of national defense. A variety of about 200 aircrafts from more than 20 countries attended the exhibition and performance show, attracting more than 100,000 Austrians on the first day. The Austrian "Airpower 2013" is free to all visitors. During the "Airpower 2013", the various active duty military aircrafts from the Air Force of Austria and other European countries gave a performance in the air, showing all kinds of flying skills. Besides, some old-fashioned classic military aircrafts also carried out flight demonstrations.Aerobatics is one of the most popular programs of the "Airpower" show. The national aerobatic teams of various countries gave interesting performances one after another. The "Airpower" show is held every two years. It is considered as an important opportunity for the Austrian military to show its training achievements. At this "Airpower" show, the Austrian military also performed the skills such as "landing commando assault" and "fighters scrambling to intercept and landing 'enemy' transport aircraft", which caused the visitors' great interest. However, the effects of organizing such an event in the economy and the environment remain under debate.
