
Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb on Wednesday warned the western countries against extremist and radical groups.
During a meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, el Tayyeb asserted that the western world should not apply the principles of freedom when dealing with extremists and terrorists.
The grand Imam offered training to Austrian preachers to spread values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in Islam.
Kurz, for his part, expressed thanks for warm reception, pointing out that the Austrian government exerts utmost efforts to combat radical and extremist thoughts and ideologies.
He asserted that his country seeks to promote cooperation with Al Azhar.
