Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan has said the Eurozone could be functional only if there were correct rules and appropriate enforcement mechanisms. Babacan attended a panel discussion "Eurozone: Did the crisis end?" by Bertelsmann Foundation and the Financial Times during his visit in Washington. Deputy PM Babacan said, "When there is a complete and serious Eurozone, Turkey may want to participate in it someday in the future." Financial Times columnist Gillian Tett noted, EU should be grateful as it had neighbors like Turkey, which could give them common sense advices. Among the participants of the panel discussion were Swedish Finance Minister Anders Borg, Dutch Finance Minister and President of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem and French Minister of Finance Pierre Moscovici.
