Senior Hamas leader Ahmad Bahar said Sunday no Palestinian would be scared by the Israeli prime minister's threats to hit back at Gaza militants. In a statement received by Ma'an, the parliamentary speaker affirmed that Palestinian resistance groups were capable of defending the Palestinian people and would "counter the (Israeli) occupation's horror." Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu warned Sunday that while Israel is "not eager for escalation" it uses two principles in response to Gaza militants "kill or be killed" and "hurt us – on your own head be it." A ceasefire brokered by Egypt early Sunday after nine Islamic Jihad fighters were killed in airstrikes Saturday seemed to be fraying as Israeli war planes killed a DFLP militant, and PFLP's armed wing claimed rocket fire into Israel on Sunday afternoon. Bahar said Netanyahu and his governments threats would not intimidate people, but rather be an "additional motive to keep the firm will and the challenge with which to counter terrorism and aggressiveness (by Israel)."
