Bahrain' Ambassador to Japan Dr Khalil Hassan led the kingdom's delegation taking part at the ministerial international conference on nuclear safety being held from December 15 to 17 in Fukushima, Japan. The Japanese government is participating in organizing this conference with the IAEA in which various world countries are taking part. The principal objective of this international ministerial conference is to contribute to strengthening nuclear safety worldwide. The Conference will provide another opportunity to share with the international community, at the ministerial and expert levels, further knowledge and lessons learned from the Fukushima Dai-ichi accident. It will also further enhance transparency; and to discuss the progress of international efforts aimed at strengthening nuclear safety, including through the implementation of the Action Plan, as well as of measures to protect people and the environment from ionizing radiation. Bahrain's participation affirms is keenness towards regional and international security through the safety of nuclear industries worldwide.
