Bahrain security forces seize 375,000 Bahrain dinar worth of narcotics

The General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science of Bahrain, in cooperation with the Coast Guard, Police Aviation Dept. and various police authorities, has foiled a trafficking attempt of a large amount of drugs in the northern part of Bahrain's territorial waters, valued at BD375,000 (AED 3.662m). Two Bahrainis were arrested on board the confiscated boat and more were arrested following the launch of an intensive investigation, according to the Bahraini News Agency, BNA. The General Director of Crime Detection and Forensic Science said that the Anti-Narcotics Directorate had received a tip concerning the trafficking operation, prompting a maritime deployment of coast guard vessels backed up by Police Aviation in coordination with the Royal Bahrain Naval Force. The boat was spotted heading towards Bahrain's regional waters and an identification was confirmed through coast guard radar. The boat sailed towards Jadoom Island where the shipment was unloaded. The confiscated material included 105 kg of hashish, 333 grams of Shabu (methamphetamine) and four bags of Captagon (fenethylline) tablets, he added. The case was referred to the Public Prosecution.
