Bahrain's Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa led the Kingdom's delegation to the fifth Arab Water Ministerial Meeting, held today at the headquarters of the Arab League here. Participants discussed strategy of water security in the Arab region, follow up of the implementation of the resolutions of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit and the preparations for the 7th World Water Forum, due to be held in South Korea in 2015. Success stories and pioneering projects in the field of water resources were presented during the meeting, including Algeria's mega project to transfer water from In Salah to Tamanrasset, Libya's project to move water from areas of water abundance to areas of water scarcity (Man-Made River), Qatar's project to reduce losses in the drinking water networks, among others. It is to be noted that Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water, chaired the meeting.
