His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, met today with The Honourable Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur as part of his Asian working visit to India, Japan and Malaysia. At the beginning of the meeting, His Royal Highness conveyed His Majesty King Hamad and HRH the Prime Minister’s greetings to the Malaysian Prime Minister, wishing him and his country continuing success and prosperity. His Royal Highness then discussed relations between Bahrain and Malaysia with the Prime Minister, and expressed his hope for greater cooperation across various sectors, and especially to continue to build economic ties. They went on to discuss the economic milestones witnessed by Bahrain under the umbrella of His Majesty’s reform initiatives. These focus on enhancing the performance of Bahrain’s economy and developing strategies to diversify its sources of income in order to achieve long-term sustainability, positioning Bahrain as a gateway for international expansion into the Arabian Gulf and Middle East. His Royal Highness also praised the Malaysian government’s continued determination to support its economic and commercial relations with GCC countries and its hosting of the Asian-Gulf Economic Center. His Royal Highness also welcomed Malaysia’s political and economic support for Bahrain. For his part, the Prime Minister warmly welcomed His Royal Highness’ visit, emphasizing the strong relations between the two countries. He also praised Bahrain’s continued determination to maintain and enhance the good relations and cooperation between Bahrain and Malaysia. His Royal Highness arrived in Malaysia earlier today, coming from Tokyo. A group of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and the Bahraini Ambassador to Malaysia also attended His Royal Highness’ reception.
