Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has asserted the solidity of the friendly Bahraini-South Korean ties, adding that those relations have a strategic importance in light of the accelerating global developments requiring countries to create bases of alliances in order to be able to achieve more political, economic and trade achievements. Speaking as he met with the South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Kim Kyou-hyun, Shaikh Khalid cited the fruitful outcome of the recent visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, to Seoul where an agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation and another on joint cooperation in the fields of e-Government and transportation were signed. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister expressed the kingdom's appreciation to South Korea for re-opening its embassy in Manama, asserting that the existence of a permanent diplomatic mission will enhance trade and investment cooperation between businessmen in the two countries, boost cultural exchange and enable Bahrain and other GCC countries to take advantage of Korean technological expertise. On his part, the South Korean Official expressed pride in the steady growth of joint diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, calling for the need to create more channels of continuous bilateral coordination in all fields. Other issues of mutual concern were also discussed.
