Ban Ki-moon starts official visit to Estonia

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Tallinn on Friday for an official visit to Estonia, local media reported. According to the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Ban is scheduled to meet with Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, president of the Estonian parliament Ene Ergma, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, and Foreign Minister Urmas Paet. Their discussion wil cover a wide range of topics, including international security issues, the UN's role in managing crises in the Middle East and North Africa, the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in ensuring post-conflict peace, as well as cyber security and internet governance. Estonia's participation in the UN, including its role as a member of the Human Rights Council, will come under discussion. The UN Secretary-General is also scheduled to visit and address at the Robotex 2013, the Baltic states' largest robotics competition, which is taking place at the Tallinn University of Technology. Ban will travel to Lithuania on Saturday before returning to Poland on Monday for the second and final week of the UN conference on climate change.
