
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Sunday thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for Kuwait's hosting of the 3rd international donors' conference to help the Syrian people.
Ban appreciated His Highness the Amir's approval to host the conference, which Kuwait would be hosting for the third time, a move that boost Kuwait's leading humanitarian efforts.
Ban, who commended His Highness the Amir's humanitarian endeavors, briefed His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad over the "tragic" living conditions of the Syrian refugees.
His Highness the Amir thanked Ban for his phone call and said Kuwait was happy to host the 3rd conference, due on March 31.
His Highness the Amir wished success for the conference in order to alleviate suffering of internally-displaced people and refugees.
Kuwait hosted the first and second donors' conferences in 2013 and 2014, contributing USD 800 million for the Syrian people. Donors pledged some USD 3.9 billion.
