Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa on Wednesday reiterated the confirmation of the Yemeni government’s respect and protection of human rights. During his meeting with representative of Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Sana'a Abdul-Salam Said Ahmed, Basindwa said that building a new Yemen necessarily entails opening a new page, which should be characterized by respect for citizens’ rights and freedoms and protection their dignity. Ahmed asserted the OHCHR’s readiness to offer all possible assistances needed to help Yemen protect human rights. The discussions between the PM and OHCHR representative touched upon the Yemeni government’s efforts to safeguard human rights as well as the aid the OHCHR could provide to help Yemen improve the relevant institutional fields and fulfill its national and international obligations in human rights area.
