The municipality of Beit Ummar on Sunday cut the electricity to 11 stone factories over unpaid bills.Local mayor Habes al-Alami said factories owed 2 million shekels ($552,000) in electricity bills."We already sent (factory owners) many warnings but they never listened," al-Alami told Ma'an.Factory owner Naeem Thawabteh condemned the decision to cut the power. He said the municipality did not have the necessary court order to disconnect the power.Another factory owner, Abdul Aziz Karma, also protested the power cut which he said would put people out of work.
