Belgian Foreign Minister Steven Vanackere has welcomed the formation of the new transitional government in Libya led by Prime Minister Abdurrahim Al-Kib."The challenges facing the transitional government are numerous and important since the government team will ensure security, stability, and economic recovery of the country and lay the foundations for a new democratic Libyan state, respectful of human rights, the rule of law, and fundamental freedoms," he said in a statement.Vanackere encouraged the new Libyan authorities to cooperate fully with the International Criminal Court in the prosecution of Saif Al-Islam and he welcomed the contacts that took place Wednesday in Tripoli between the Libyan authorities and the ICC Prosecutor.He assured the Libyan authorities the support of Belgium in the process of democratic transition.
