A broadcast journalist in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi says gunmen trying to silence her work attempted to kill her. Khawlija al-Amami, with the al-Altar TV station, is the third journalist in Libya to be targeted by gunmen in four days, the British newspaper The Guardian reported Tuesday. Al-Amami was shot at by gunmen who pulled up to her car Monday. She wasn't injured but hours later received a text warning her to "stop your journalism" or be killed. On Saturday, a reporter in Ajdabiya, south of the city, was shot and wounded. Television reporter Izzaldin Qasaad was shot and killed Friday as he left a mosque in Benghazi. Responding to the latest attacks, Reporters Without Borders said "this heinous crime marks a serious and regrettable turning point in Libya's difficult transition." Human Rights Watch urged the government to track down the attackers. The group claimed the Libyan judiciary has yet to investigate 51 political assassinations since the end of the Arab Spring in 2011. Most of the killings have been in Benghazi.
