Bomb attacks leave 2 dead, 6 injured in southwest Pakistan

A series of bomb attacks in southwest Pakistan on Wednesday left at least two people dead and six others wounded, officials said. Three bomb explosions in the time span of a few minutes rocked a crowded market and an industrial street in the restive southwestern city of Quetta at around sunset. "At least two people were killed and six others got injured when three bombs exploded in Quetta city one after another," Muhammad Jaffer, a senior police official, told Agence France Presse. "The first two bombs went off in the industrial area of the city killing one person and injuring another, minutes later one more person was killed and five others wounded in a separate bomb explosion in a crowded market," he said. Hospital officials also confirmed the casualties. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the explosions. The oil-and gas-rich Baluchistan province bordering Afghanistan and Iran has been badly hit by a decade-long Baluch separatist insurgency and sectarian violence mainly targeting Shiites Muslims from the ethnic Hazara community.
